Gary Sexton is the current president of the Youngstown Peace Race Foundation. He is director of the public radio station, 88.5 WYSU-FM. This is his second term on the Peace Race board. Gary’s hobbies are trail running, trail ultras, backpacking and canoeing.
Leanne has served on the Peace Race board for five years, two of which she served as Secretary; she currently serves as its Treasurer. She enjoys running, but readily admits that her longest race has been and will likely remain the 10K.
Jonathan Bolha a.k.a Scooby is a resident of Austintown. He works as a landscaper and home remodeler. He has been a board Member since 2010 and the secretary since 2012. His hobbies include cooking, bicycling, skiing & traveling. Scooby’s running PR’s include a 16:31 (5K), 34:40 (10k), 1:18:11 (Half Marathon), 2:44:47 (Full Marathon) & 4:11:54(50k).
Natalie Lariccia serves as the Youngstown Peace Race’s marketing chairwoman. She is a financial advisor and a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor with Merrill Lynch and a freelance writer. She loves to work, listen to good music, watch a good movie….and run, of course. Natalie has been an avid runner for nearly 15 years, running competitively for the past five years. Her favorite distance is a 10K. She has completed six half marathons and is running the Cleveland Marathon Half in the spring of 2013. Someday – when time permits – she hopes to conquer a full marathon. Natalie is grateful for running for keeping her sane and helping her combat the adverse effects of her other favorite activities – enjoying good food and good wine.
Terry (aka T3) is a Vienna resident and is retired from HM Health Services. He serves as an executive board member at large and is an active competitive runner, earning several accolades for his running accomplishments, including 2005 USA Track and Field Masters Age Division Runner of the Year, 2010 2nd USATF Age Division Runner of the Year. He was also a 2010 Boston Marathon age division winner, 2011 RRCA Male Masters Runner of the Year ; 2011 USATF age group 60-64 Male Master of the Year, and a 2012 USATF Age Group Male Master of the Year .Terry was inducted into Youngstown RoadRunners Hall of Fame 2011.
Al was born and educated in the Youngstown area, graduating from Youngstown State University with BS and BA in 1981. He has been married 24 years and has two children in college. He is an executive for 30 years in the commercial real estate industry, specializing in retail properties throughout the United States. Al is an avid runner, completing 45 marathons and ultra marathons. He also completed four Boston marathons, most notably the 100th Boston Marathon.
Becky is an electrical engineer, a cross country and track coach and avid runner for 28 years. A Poland resident, Becky joined the Peace Race board in 2011. She began running at age 12 and has been hooked ever since. She’s been a competitive runner, a just-for-fun runner, an injured runner, and a recovering runner. Her goal is to become an old runner.
Jen is a Boardman resident and a mom, nurse and avid runner. Jen helps with the board’s development and promotion initiatives, and her favorite running memories are “pounding out the miles in Mill Creek Park” with her daughter, Chloe.
Rick is a Boardman resident and an attorney/partner at Henderson, Covington and Messenger, Newman and Thomas. Rick has been a consistent runner for more than 30 years.
Joe is a Peace Race board member who resides in Boardman. He is employed by the Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities, where he also serves as a Special Olympic coach and volunteer. He enjoys distance running, multi-sports and functional strength training at the Ironman Warehouse in Youngstown, Ohio.
Leslie Horvath is a Youngstown resident and a Peace Race board member since 2006. He enjoys running and cooking and spending time with his family. He is a finisher of four New York City marathons and many local races.
Mark Sorrentino is a lifelong area resident currently residing in Austintown. His profession is in orthodics as a licensed pedorthis and the owner of Sorrentino Orthotics. He has been a member of the Peace Race board for six years. He started running in 1976 and has completed 35 marathons and hundreds of other races. Most recently, he has focused on triathlons, including the ironman distance and all other shorter distances. He has been a longtime running and triathlon advocate and recently served as the president of the Steel Valley Triathlon Club.
A Boardman resident, Steve is the owner of Secold Sole Athletic Footwear and Second Sole Racing. He has been a board member for the past 15 years and is a past board president, but he has been involved with the Peace Race for 29 years. His running PRs include a 4:17 mile; a 15:15 5K; a 31:30 10K and a 2:38 marathon.
Erin is a Columbiana Resident who is employed by General Motors. One of the many interests that Erin has is running… This includes distances from the 5k to ultras.
Leslie grew up in Austintown, and currently resides in McDonald, OH. She has been an active member of the running community since 1999, when the eldest of her two sons joined McDonald’s cross country and track teams. While her sons were running for McDonald, Leslie served as the CC & Track Booster Club president. During this time, she worked closely with the head varsity coach in all aspects of race preparation and execution, along with being an avid fan of the sport. Since then, Leslie has participated in, volunteered for and worked a multitude of road races in the Mahoning Valley area. She looks forward to contributing to the Youngstown Peace Race.
Todd embraced the running addiction after his older sister (track star in the family) talked him into doing a half Marathon in 2010 and has not stop running. He enjoys competing in local races, spinning, yoga and taking on new challenges. He joined the board in 2013 and plans on being a valuable asset to Youngstown running community for many years to come. Todd is a lifelong resident of Austintown that holds a BSBA from Youngstown State University with a major in accounting and is currently the Controller for Extrudex Aluminum.
Rikki is a first-year Peace Race board member for 2013. Rikki coordinates all community events for Mill Creek MetroParks, such as the Peace Race. She graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor in Geology/Environmental Science. She lives in Poland, Ohio but is originally from Hammondsville, Ohio. Rikki loves any type of outdoor recreation including kayaking, rock climbing, and hiking. She used to be an avid runner and hopes with some encouragement from her new running friends on the Peace Race board that she will get back into running.
Larry is a lifetime area resident residing in Boardman with his wife, Carol. He recently retired from the Internal Revenue Service. Larry has been running and participating in triathlons since 1995. He is looking forward to now having the time to leisurely swim, bike and run.
Eric is a new member of the Peace Race board, joining in 2013. He is employed at Commonwealth Financial Network in Youngstown, specializing in securities and advisory services, including high net-work clients and small to medium 401k plans. Eric is an active runner and enjoyed running in the Panarathon , Peace Race, Turkey Trot and the Mill Creek Distance Classic. He hopes to complete a half marathon this summer in Presque Isle.
Jeff is a account executive with The Gibson Agency, LLC, A Thompson Insurance Group Company. He has specialized in this unique industry for over 25 years. He has partnered with Thompson Insurance Group and its subsidiaries in 2010. In addition to the same insurance companies and markets he has built many relationships with in the past, he now has access to a broader range of products and services that can do nothing but benefit his clients throughout the country. Jeff is a new member to the Peace Race board for 2013 and enjoys cycling.
Jesse is a Clinical Nurse Specialist, specializing in neurology. Jesse resides in Columbiana and is a 1998 Boardman High School graduate. He graduated from Youngstown State University in 2002 and 2006. Jesse became a sponsored runner in 2012 and was supported by GU Energy as well as TrionZ magnbetic bracelets. Jesse has completed several half as well as full-marathons. Jesse was also recently given the distinction of “Laird” by the Scottish governement. He has been on the board since 2011.
John moved into Northeastern Ohio in 2010. He works remotely as Senior Director of Information Technology for NASPA (based in Washington, DC), the largest student affairs association in the world. John’s endurance accomplishments include finishing four full Ironman races, two 100 mile trail races (Leadville 100 and Burning River 100), and several 50 mile and 50K trail runs. John’s accomplishments are inspired by two things: overcoming the challenges brought by living with Type 1 diabetes; and maintaining the endurance needed to keep up with two young, energetic children.
